Each student receives 30 minutes of daily, focused Reading instruction in a group setting for a total of 2 hours and 30 minutes per week. The goal of ARI is to move students as close to age and grade appropriate reading levels as possible. Students will benefit from the small group setting and a non-threatening environment. The #1 rule for ARI time is that mistakes are okay and perfection is not necessary, but trying your best is not optional!
During the course of this school year, students will engage in a variety of fundamental reading techniques, skills, and strategies which all tie together in some way. Instruction will include:
*Modeled Reading & Thinking
*Guided Reading with Pre, During, & Post Reading Activities
*Comprehension Drills & Critical Thinking Skills
*Vocabulary Development & Word Structure
*TAKS/TEKS Objectives & Student Expectations
*Test Taking Practice & Strategies
