My name is Jorien Bowens, and  I am truly excited to join the WISD and Shackelford family this

year.  I am beginning my ninth year as a teacher with prior experience in the Dallas, Plano, and Cedar

Hill school districts.

I received my undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin.  I completed a

 Master of Science degree in Elementary Education (Curriculum) with a focus in Reading at Texas

 A&M University at Commerce.  This fall, I am also beginning doctoral studies in Curriculum &

 Instruction with a support area in reading at Texas A&M  Commerce. 

I have a wonderful husband of 2 years who teaches in the Cedar Hill district.  We have no children,

but we have many students of which we are very fond! We attend The Inspiring Body of Christ

Church in Dallas and we always put our faith first!

In my spare time, you will find me reading, cooking, enjoying a movie, or sleeping!
