Testing Dates and Information

August/September  -  1st grade - Observation Survey/ DRA/TPRI

January  -  1st grade - TPRI

May  -  1st grade - Observation Survey/DRA/TPRI

Ø     Observation Survey is administered to first grade students at the beginning and end of the school year.  It assesses letter identification, word knowledge, concepts about print, written vocabulary, and hearing and recording sounds.

Ø     The Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA) instrument is used to determine instructional reading levels.  First grade students need to be reading at a level 16 by the end of the year.  Second grade students need to be reading at a level 28.

Ø     Texas Primary Reading Inventory (TPRI) is a reading instrument administered to determine early identification of reading skill and comprehension development.  It provides useful information that can assist in planning reading instruction.
