First Grade

First grade is an exciting year in the lives of children!  It is full of learning experiences.  Learning to read involves word attack skills, context and picture clues, sight words, and comprehension.  Math facts, counting, money, predicting, and telling time are concepts taught during the first grade year.  Thematic units are studied throughout the year.
