Reports All grades for students assignments and tests will be weighted equally. Report cards are usually sent home on the Thursday following the end of each grading period as indicated on the WISD school calendar: Students in grades two through five receive report cards with the numerical grading system. Any grade below 70 is failing. Report cards must be signed by the parents/guardians and returned to the school. Students receive report cards every nine weeks. Progress reports will be sent at regular intervals of 4.5 weeks. Pre- K and Kindergarten students will receive checklists with master of appropriate skills noted. First grade students will receive report cards with the following grading system: E = Excellent S = Satisfactory N = Needs Improvement U = Unsatisfactory . Grades below "S" may be considered grounds for retention. . Late Homework Policy In grades one through five, homework will be accepted without a penalty if it is turned in at any time on the day it is due. Homework will be accepted the day after it is due, but a grade penalty of ten percent will be assigned. Homework turned in within the week will be accepted with a maximum grade of 70. The teacher may choose to provide a different independent practice activity to ensure that the student has adequate practice on the skill or concept.
Homework Policy Homework assignments will be an extension of unfinished classroom work. Parents are not expected to instruct children. They are expected to assist if the need arises. Students should understand what they are to do before they leave school for the day and be able to completer the assignment in a short period of time. Practice-type activities will be ones that should be completed quickly. Project-type assignments will require more time. Primary children should generally spend no more than thirty minutes on homework.
